Our Story
The Marietta Youth Football Association, originally incorporated as The Marietta Blue Eagles, was founded in 2000 after discussions with officers from the Marietta Police Department who were concerned that local youth had limited organized activities after school. They saw a need for structured recreation and youth engagement, leading to the formation of a board of directors and the program’s acceptance into the North Georgia Youth Football league.
In the early years, the organization quickly grew fielding nine teams, two of which finished undefeated, and involving over 300 children. Within four seasons, seven teams reached championship games, with two earning titles. The success was made possible through the generosity of individual and corporate sponsors, which helped offset the high startup costs and allowed the association to thrive.
The program has had a meaningful impact on the community, teaching young athletes how to work together, build character, and develop life skills that extend beyond the football field.
In 2013, the team became affiliated with Osborne High School and was renamed the Osborne Cardinals. During this chapter, two teams reached the league’s Super Bowl, with one coming away a champion.
By 2017, the organization returned fully to community roots and established its home at Fair Oaks Park. Today, they proudly carry on the tradition as the Marietta Cardinals Youth Football & Cheerleading program, dedicated to providing a positive, structured environment for youth players and cheerleaders.
